Valedictorian graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and one of the few chiropractors to serve at a Veterans Affairs Hospital. Dr. Bowles brings advanced diagnostic expertise and a patient-first philosophy. He is committed to treating the root cause of pain and ensuring every patient feels supported throughout their recovery.

Dr. James Bowles, DC

Lead Chiropractic Physician

Dr. James graduated top of the class from Palmer College of Chiropractic, as Valedictorian of his doctoral program, before becoming one of the few chiropractors in the country to have the privilege to work for a Veterans Affairs Hospital in Iowa City. Less than 1% of all chiropractors in the country are qualified to work in a specialized hospital setting, and Dr. James was one of them! After working at the Iowa City VA Hospital, he moved to Chicago, IL and practiced in a multidisciplinary clinic specializing in Sport Orthopedic and Pain Management procedures, until moving back to Central Florida in September 2020, where he practiced at Lake Mary Chiropractic Center until becoming the new owner and lead physician of Orlando Spine Studio.

Dr. James is originally from England and played professional soccer for Portsmouth Football Club for 2 years until a severe knee injury ended his professional sports career early in 2012. Now in his free time away from the clinic he enjoys using his private pilot’s license to fly around Central Florida, watching soccer matches every chance he gets, and loves to spend time at home with his wife, Bailey, and 2 dogs, Maximus and Bernard.

Dr. James’ practice philosophy is to utilize a full open-door policy for his patients. Whenever his patients need anything, he is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure their healthcare needs are met. All his patients have access to his direct email and he encourages them to ask as many questions as possible to ensure they have a good understanding and full control of their health.

Joe Martinez

Exercise Rehab Specialist

Joe has been with Orlando Spine Studio since 2022 but, he and Dr. James have been helping patients together for over 5 years, since they worked together previously at clinic in Lake Mary. He is so good at what he does, Dr. James had to hire him immediately when taking over Orlando Spine Studio. Joe was born in Miami but, his family is all originally from Cuba. He is retired law enforcement with a passion for fitness and wellbeing through exercise. In his spare time, Joe loves to lift weights at the gym, try different food spots every week, and spend time with his wife, Joanna.

Alex Forbes

Exercise Rehab Specialist

Alex brings a high level of exercise expertise to Orlando Spine Studio. He is a professional swimmer that has been to the Olympic trials several times and he only missed out on a spot on the USA Olympic team by a 1 position! Alex still loves to swim less competitively in his spare time. He also works at Crunch Fitness on his days away from the clinic, teaching exercise and stretching techniques to new gym goers. Fun fact about Alex is that he has never eaten a piece of meat, he was raised vegetarian since birth!

Medical Assistant

Jessica is a recent graduate of University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Her role at Orlando Spine Studio is to assist Dr. James and the rehab specialists to make sure treatments run smoothly, safely, and effectively. Jess is a competitive weight lifter that travels around the country competing in Olympic style lifting competitions. Her favorite cheat meal after heavy lifting sessions is Chick-Fil-A.

Massage Therapist

Alex has been a licensed massage therapist for over 24 years, with certifications in neuromuscular, medical, and orthopedic massage. He is very clinically minded and works closely with our doctor to help patients resolve the root cause of the issue. Alex is a very active member of his church, where he likes to sing in the choir and serves as the church’s sacristan. He lives in close proximity to the clinic and enjoys exercising in Jay Blanchard park, so you might see him out and about if you live locally too!

Office Manager

Brent is a true local, he was born and raised in Orlando, FL. He graduated in 2015 from the University of Central Florida and had a career in real estate contracts with Clear Channel before coming to Orlando Spine Studio in 2024. Brent is the main point of contact for patients with questions on billing, insurance, and claims. When he is away from the clinic, Brent loves to spend time with his girlfriend, Carly, and their dog, Charlie. He also enjoys playing video games and watching the NFL. Fun fact: he is also Dr. James’ brother-in-law.

Haley is originally from Georgia and moved to Florida in 2019 with her husband, Caleb, and their 2 doggos! As you can tell from her smile, she loves what she does and that’s helping patients like you access the treatment you need to feel better. Haley is the best when it comes to verifying insurance benefits, formulating treatment plans based on the doctor’s prescriptions, and being a great source for questions about insurance, scheduling, referrals, and treatment financing. Her hobbies outside the clinic are going to the beach, hiking, and traveling as much as possible.

Merima has a cool and unique background with her father being from Bosnia and Herzegovina and her mother being from Nicaragua. Fun fact though, she speaks neither Bosnian or Spanish! This young lady is the first face you will see when coming to Orlando Spine Studio. Customer service and scheduling are her areas of expertise. Merima is currently in college and wants to eventually become a sports medicine doctor. Her hobbies include trying new coffee spots and playing video games with friends.

Debbie is originally from Flint Michigan and move to Florida over 30 years ago. Her and her husband, Mario, love to bike ride on the weekends and travel the world during the holidays. Come by and say hello to her, Debbie always loves chatting with our patients about anything they want or need!
